NLIK - Network of Local Initiatives

In May 2008, CBM and 28 other organisations from all over Kosovo retreated in Ohrid, Macedonia, and established the Network of Local Initiatives of Kosovo (NLIK).

The idea was initiated by the organizations in a meeting organised by Foundation for Democratic Initiatives (FDI) in Kamenica, in February 2007. The NGOs expressed the
desire to create a network to enhance communication between them, to develop different initiatives and joint projects, and to gather as many organizations as possible to exchange ideas and experiences. NLIK is the result of our combined efforts to realize this.

By means of this network, we aim to pursue our common mission:

  • Community development, and the improvement of inter-personal dialogue through the strengthening of
  • local initiatives.

The objectives of the network (NLIK) are:

  • Enhancing civil society sector capacity through situation analysis, recommendations for improvement, working out strategies to overcome the current situation, increasing active citizen participation, and the strengthening of the sector;
  • to strengthen the links between citizens through the development of local initiatives;
  • sustainable community development in accordance with regional organizations and interest groups;

CBM has been actively involved from the beginning, and currently fulfils the position of Network Leader in the Network Steering Committee. The other Steering Committee members are:

  • CPHR
  • Elita
  • Handicap Kosova
  • Rrjeti Avonet
