Within the activity Reconciliation and Conflict Transformation, a workshop has been organized with members of the Cohesion Circle. The aim of the workshop was to plan a week of activism, marking the Earth Day, the event which we modestly named “Save the Planet”. The pressing issue of global warming is affecting us all, and a unanimous message from members is: we need to act and we can do a lot! Relating to it, Fehmi Ferati,a member of the group shared a powerful message: “The air we breathe doesn’t know the ethnicity. All communities need clean air, and we all need to make the difference collectively, and this initiative is a good start”.

In addition to that, a young female activist Jovana Jaćimović reflected on the importance to educate youth about existing alternatives for everyday use that are less polluting: “Youth needs awareness raising and workshops on how to use products alternatives for everyday use that are less polluting– tote bags instead of plastic bags, refillable bottles etc”.

Speaking of young females with passion to make a change, Nora Prekazi mentioned that communities need events, peaceful messages sharing, which would attract and provoke people to think about the issue of our communities living in a polluted area: “A simple thing like a concert on the streets, would attract people to stop by, talk to us about making a change”.

On the other hand, a young female activist and a member of the Cohesion Circle with passion Mevlude Skuroshi, shared concerns about the seriousness of the environmental changes happening as we speak, and one of the ideas for the future work Mevlude mentioned, is creating a space for green houses, producing seeds and different types of products which can be shared with communities and later on planted, thus creating a catalytic effect and contribute to sustainable communities.

Members agreed that institutions play important role in this issue and have to be hold accountable and included in the joint work.

A week of activism will begin on April 19th, and will last a whole week. Invitation for all is citizens is open to join us in this cause!
