CBM focus area: Media

Information, and in particular access to information, forms an important element contributing to a peaceful society. It does not need not to be explained that the different communities in Mitrovica are provided with contradicting information about a given issue, this can have a negative impact in society, particularly given Mitrovica’s at times turbulent socio-political climate. CBM strongly supports free and independent, unbiased media. Therefore it has initiated a number of media projects, ranging from a multi-lingual magazine for entire Mitrovica to training courses for journalists. Apart from setting up and supporting media- or information related initiatives, CBM is also engaged in monitoring activities to create more transparency about bias and prejudice in various media.
