CBM focus area: Returns

After the war, many people who lost their homes and property are still living as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Although there is a widely shared feeling of need to deal with property issues and the possibility to return to the place of origin among IDPs, remarkably little has been accomplished in this field. Nearly 10 years after the war, a large majority of IDPs still has not been able to return. CBM, acknowledging this, has been directly involved in the return processes of IDPs of various ethnic backgrounds in the Mitrovica region and wider Kosovo. The sensitive political environment makes it particularly difficult for Serbian IDPs to return if they so wish, their return being of great importance for the peace process in Kosovo.
