Community Building Mitrovica organized second public debate for the Mitrovica South Municipality - Youth Monitoring Report in cooperation with Lëvizja KOHA

Community Building Mitrovica and NGO Lëvizja KOHA, one of the grantees of the project “Civil Society is watching you: demand for accountability and transparency on local level” held the second public debate on the monitoring process of Mitrovica South Municipal Assembly, Education Department, Culture Youth and Sports Department within Mitrovica South Municipality entitled ‘’The Situation of Education and Youth in Mitrovica’’.

Some of the participants in this event were: Director of Education Department of Mitrovica South Municipality Mr.Pajazit Hajzeri, Director of Culture, Youth and Sports Department Mr.Tafil Peci and other representatives of local institutions, civil society and media.

Mrs.Florentina Hajdari Hajra, good governance program manager in Community Bulding Mitrovica opened the meeting and gave a brief presentation of the project “Civil Society is watching you: demand for accountability and transparency on local level” and also moderated the round table. Following, the floor for more detailed introduction of ‘’Youth is monitoring you’’ under which project this debate was organized, was given to Mr.Erzen Isufi representative of Lëvizja KOHA. Mr.Isufi spoke about the findings of the monitoring process; the final report is going to be published by April 20, 2016. As main concern when it comes to the Education Department according to Lëvizja KOHA representatives are the budget cuts for this year, while one of the achievements in this Department is safety enhancement in primary and high schools. From the monitoring of the Culture, Youth and Sports Department amongst the other issues as main need was mentioned recognition of the voluntary work.Directors of these both monitored Departments mentioned above mainly agreed with the findings introduced, while welcomed the recommendations.

This round table was organized in the framework of the small grantee project ‘’Youth is monitoring you’’ realized under the “Civil Society is watching you: demand for accountability and transparency on local level”, an EU funded project managed by European Union Office and co-founded by Austrian Development Agency, The Netherlands Embassy in Pristina and MOTT Foundation, while implemented by Community Building Mitrovica and Center for Resources Youth and Media Coalition.
