General Background:

Community Building Mitrovica (CBM) is a local Non Governmental Organization (NGO), active since March 2001 in Mitrovica region covering all seven municipalities: Mitrovicë/a South, Mitrovicë/a North, Vushtrri/Vučitrn, Skenderaj/Srbica, Leposavić/ Leposaviq, ZubinPotok/ZubinPotok and Zvečan/Zveqan. CBM is an interethnic grassroots organization that identifies, encourages and facilitates joint actions of citizens in the Mitrovica region in order to promote cooperation, co-existence and democratic values.

The Project Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Project Coordinator in the implementation of activities of a three-year Consortium Programme, jointly delivered by CBM, Mundësia and Open Data Kosovo. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated ability in implementation of a large and medium-scale projects for local or international organizations, analytical skills, strong communication skills; is highly organized, adaptable, and able to priotize tasks while working independently.

Job description:

  • Provide general administrative and financial management support to the Project Coordinator;
  • Work closely with the project team to co-ordinate efforts within the team and with partners to deliver activities to deadline and on budget;
  • Organize and monitor reporting schedules and ensure that deadlines are met
  • Develop reports and correspondence independently
  • Conduct field visits to oversee the successful delivery of the project activities.
  • Assist in project budget management, including preparation of cash forecasts, contribute to preparation of budget revisions, assist the Project Coordinator in ensuring availability of funds in the budget, proper use of accounts and adherence to project activities to the approved workplans.   
  • Assist the Project Coordinator with project accounting, such as preparation of payment requests, ensuring provision of required support documentation, reconciling project accounts, and assisting during audit exercises
  • Maintain project documents filing system
  • Assist in drafting and compiling of narrative and financial reports to CBM, ultimately intended for the donor;
  • Perform other related duties, as required

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience working with large- and medium-sized projects in the community or international development sectors
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Collaborative working style, as well as ability to work independently and responsibly under pressure, and as a member of broad and diverse teams
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Attention to detail and an aptitude for problem solving
  • Ability to proactively address potential issues
  • Professional communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Recognized University degree, preferably in a relevant field
  • Fluency in English and Albanian; knowing Serbian is an aset
