Press Release: Visa Liberalization

Kosovo Foundation for Open Society and its partners of civil society , continues the campaign for visa liberalization started in April of this year, with a letter sent to the High Representative of the European Union, Federica Mogherini, Commissioner Johannes Hahn and Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos.

With this campaign, civil society organizations addressed the European Union authorities and the Government. The campaign includes placement of posters in Pristina airport as well as social media, a documentary film will be ready in August this year, and a citizen petition to the main actors of the isolation of the country, the European Union and the Government.

The text of the petition, which is to be signed by many citizens, would be this:

We citizens signed in this petition are convinced that Kosovo's isolation imposed Shengen visas has already begun to adversely affect all movements in society, and to let traces of irreversible developmental processes that we need so much. Restriction of freedom of movement, the European countries within Europe, is a paradox of time, especially today, when globalization has involved every corner of life, and prevents normal development when there is no freedom of movement.

We ask the authorities of the European Union and the Government of Kosovo as soon as possible to create conditions for visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens. The EU should treat us as he treated other countries in the region, while our government must meet the criteria established with more will and determination.

If we want more economic development, quality education, public health, cultural and sports exchange, especially if we want less of Kosovo who want to migrate, then we are convinced that the Schengen visa liberalization as soon as possible! "
