Terms of Reference for Counselling Psychologist

About CBM:

Community Building Mitrovica (CBM) is a local non-governmental organization (NGO) operating in the field of peace and community building in the wider region of Mitrovica, northern municipalities of Kosovo. The overall aim of CBM is to facilitate contact and dialogue between citizens in the whole of Mitrovica municipality. CBMs staff consists of devoted citizens – both Serbs and Albanians – who grew up in this region and want to restore the previous confidence and even friendship that war and politics have destroyed.

By supporting many concrete projects that address the direct needs of the local communities, CBM contributes in a modest way to this aim. The work of the past years has gained the organization a strong reputation on both sides of the Ibar river. Fields in which CBM works are: media, culture, youth, women, minorities, dialogue, and return of refugees and IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons).

CBMs projects are open to members of all communities living in Mitrovica and wider. CBM often cooperates with other NGOs, helps with local initiatives, and works with local governmental institutions and international organizations in order to initiate, develop, and implement activities, for the benefit of the communities, in Mitrovica and wider.

About the project:

Partners Kosovo and Community Building Mitrovica have identified two areas for improvement through assessments and workshops: fundraising and staff well-being. While an internal fundraising program is being developed, staff well-being remains a challenge due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the mental health burden of working in Kosovo's political hotspot. To address this, CBM plans to provide psychological support and promote healthy coping mechanisms for staff through a strong support network, adaptive management strategies, and contracting counsellors. A staff retreat will also be designed to create a motivated, supported, and resilient team. This is seen as a critical investment to sustain CBM's reconciliation work in Kosovo, given the context of the region. CBM also has an adaptive management strategy in place to mitigate risks for the workplace, staff, and stakeholders.

CBM is seeking a qualified counselling psychologist to provide individual psychological support to the staff over the course of four (4) months, from March to June 2023. The counselling psychologist will work with CBM staff to manage the inevitable workplace stress that accompanies day-to-day tasks and to improve the general state of staff's wellbeing.
