CBM AND PARTNERS PROMOTE YOUTH EMPLOYMENT

In a joint roundtable, CBM with partners BFPE and PIPS presented the results and recommendations derived from the implementation of the project ''Promoting Youth Employment through Social Partnerships and Cooperation''.

 

This project has been implemented for two years in 6 cities: Nis, Vranje, Leskovac, Mitrovica, Peja and Prizren, with the main goal to connect local self-governments, business sector and civil society organizations in dealing with youth employment through exchange of creative new ideas and best practices.

As result presented in this rontable some of the main findings, common for all these regions where the project was implemented are:

- The lack of exact statistics on youth employment and unemployment;

- Insufficient investments on the creation of sustainable jobs for youth;

- Lack of local partnerships on increasing youth employment;

‘’Other important element that affects youth employment in these cities is favoritism based on political affiliation’’ – said the project consultant, Aleksandra Vladisavljević. On the presentation of the outcomes, Mrs. Vladisavljević noted that part of the project have been 40 participants from Kosovo and Serbia who have had the opportunity to exchange, be part of several study visits and workshops with the main aim to create new ideas and path to youth employment.

‘’In successful partnership with Community Building Mitrovica and PIPS we have worked to promote youth employment, while through this cross-border project we aimed also the creation of networking and cooperation’’ - emphasized the representative of Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence Mr.Ɖorđe Popović.

Another concerning issue addressed in the roundtable was that according to the project outcome, 30% of young people are not part of any education institution and either working.

Following this event a detailed policy paper regarding youth employment will be delivered to all policy-makers and stakeholders.
