Community Building Mitrovica organized public debate in cooperation with NGO 'Santa Marija'

Community Building Mitrovica and NGO Santa Marija one of the grantees of the project “Civil Society is watching you: demand for accountability and transparency on local level” held the second public debate on the monitoring process of Zvečan Municipality of the Culture Youth and Sports Department within entitled ‘Mladi na delu, mladi na čelu’.

Some of the participants in this event were stakeholders of the project, members of different cultural and sports clubs from Zvečan and other civil society representatives and youth.

Mr. Milivoje Raičević opened the debate, and gave a brief presentation of the project “Civil Society is watching you: demand for accountability and transparency on local level” and also moderated the round table. Following, the floor for more detailed introduction of ‘Mladi na delu, mladi na čelu‘ under which project this debate was organized, was given to Ms Jelena Kasalović, representative of Santa Marija.

Ms Kasalović spoke about the findings of the monitoring process; as main concern when it comes to the department monitored was finances and how much money is actually invested in this department and for the youth issues in this town. Since they followed all assembly sessions within the project, they have handing over their recommendation and the problems regarding the condition of the sports, youth and education. Recommendation for improvements was also given and also points for future cooperation between civil society and municipality.

This round table was organized in the framework of the small grantee project ‘Mladi na delu, mladi na čelu’ realized under the “Civil Society is watching you: demand for accountability and transparency on local level”, an EU funded project managed by European Union Office and co-founded by Austrian Development Agency, The Netherlands Embassy in Pristina and MOTT Foundation, while implemented by Community Building Mitrovica and Center for Resources Youth and Media Coalition.
