Info session to present a new project implemented

On Wednesday, 25th of July, LINK organized an info session to present a new project implemented in cooperation with 7Arte from South Mitrovica. The project "Advancement of Local Youth Entrepreneurship Policy through Participatory Approach" funded through the Civil Society Catalyst Fund of the Inclusive Development Program implemented by UN-Habitat, PAX and CBM aims to develop local youth entrepreneurship strategies in the municipalities of North and South Mitrovica by employing a rights-based approach to the policy planning.
Speakers at the info-session targeting the youth from North Mitrovica were Associate Human Rights officer at UNMIK, Vladimir Rakočević, and Project Manager at LINK, Milica Andrić.
Mr Rakočević outlined the main principles that call for, inter alia:
- development of public policies while ensuring that the needs of the most vulnerable groups are fully addressed
- accountability of institutions to protect, promote and uphold human rights and fundamental freedoms
- transparency and access to information and participation in the decision-making processes 
Mr Rakočević also explained that UN ensures that the principles of RBA are always respected in planning, implementation and evaluation of all their projects and programmes. The RBA is based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the core international human rights instruments,while in practice its principles are also mainstreamed in the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
Apart from international institutions, RBA is a concept that applies to local and national institutions as well. Its principles are woven into the national legal framework which must be in line with international human rights treaties that the countries signed and ratified.
